Terms of Sale

Terms of Sale

Last updated: 1 November 2026

These Terms of Sale apply to purchases made from Palmleaf Books, operated by PALMLEAF PTY LTD.

By placing an order, you agree to these Terms of Sale together with our:

  • Return and Refund Policy
  • Shipping and Delivery Policy
  • Privacy Policy
  • Any product-specific conditions disclosed before checkout

Nothing in these Terms of Sale excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.

Australian dollars and GST

Unless otherwise stated:

  • All prices are displayed in Australian dollars.
  • Prices include applicable Australian GST.
  • Delivery charges are calculated separately and displayed during checkout.

If an international payment method is used, the customer’s payment provider may apply currency-conversion or international-transaction fees. Palmleaf Books does not control these fees.

Order acknowledgement and acceptance

Submitting an order is an offer to purchase the selected products under these Terms of Sale.

An order confirmation acknowledges that Palmleaf Books has received the order. It does not guarantee that every product can be supplied.

An order is accepted when Palmleaf Books sends a dispatch confirmation for the relevant product or products.

Products dispatched separately may be treated as separately accepted parts of the order.

Payment

Payment is required at checkout unless another payment arrangement is expressly offered.

Payment must be successfully authorised before an order can be processed.

Available payment methods are displayed during checkout and may change from time to time.

Palmleaf Books may cancel an order when:

  • Payment is declined
  • Payment cannot be verified
  • Payment authorisation expires
  • Fraud or unauthorised activity is reasonably suspected
  • Payment is not received within a stated timeframe

Palmleaf Books will not increase the amount charged after checkout without the customer’s express agreement.

Product information

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that product titles, authors, ISBNs, descriptions, editions, publication dates, formats, languages, prices and images are accurate.

Publishers may change a book’s cover without notice. A cover variation does not necessarily mean that a product is incorrect when the title, author, ISBN, format and edition otherwise match the order.

If a material listing error affects an order, the customer should contact Palmleaf Books so that we can provide an appropriate solution.

Product availability

All products are subject to availability.

Availability information may be supplied by publishers, distributors and other suppliers. It may change between the time a product is displayed and the time an order is processed.

A product may:

  • Become temporarily unavailable
  • Be awaiting reprinting
  • Be placed on backorder
  • Have its publication date changed
  • Go out of print
  • Be withdrawn by the publisher or supplier

Palmleaf Books does not guarantee that every listed product can always be supplied.

Supplier-sourced products

Some products are ordered from a publisher, distributor or other supplier only after the customer places an order.

By purchasing a supplier-sourced product, the customer acknowledges that:

  • Displayed availability and dispatch timeframes are estimates.
  • Supplier availability may change after the order is submitted.
  • A title may become temporarily or permanently unavailable.
  • Sourcing may begin shortly after the order is placed.
  • Cancellation may not be possible after supplier processing begins.

Nothing in this section limits any rights available under Australian Consumer Law.

Special-order and print-on-demand products

Special-order products—including print-on-demand, imported-on-request and indent titles—are sourced or produced specifically for each customer.

These products cannot be cancelled or returned for change of mind after sourcing or production has begun.

This restriction does not apply when a product is faulty, incorrectly supplied, materially different from its description or otherwise covered by Australian Consumer Law.

Preorders

Preorder release and dispatch dates are estimates based on information supplied by publishers and distributors.

A publisher may change or cancel a release date without advance notice.

Contact us immediately if you want to cancel a preorder. Cancellation is not guaranteed after publisher or supplier processing has begun.

If a preorder is cancelled by the publisher, becomes unavailable or cannot be supplied, Palmleaf Books will offer an appropriate option, which may include:

  • Waiting for a revised release date
  • Selecting an alternative available product
  • Cancelling the unavailable preorder and receiving a refund

Multiple-copy and bulk orders

The availability of one copy of a product does not guarantee that multiple copies are available.

Orders containing multiple copies are subject to confirmation from our suppliers.

Palmleaf Books may contact the customer with an updated:

  • Available quantity
  • Price
  • Dispatch estimate
  • Delivery charge

Any increased price or additional charge must be accepted by the customer before the order is changed.

Palmleaf Books may cancel and refund quantities that cannot reasonably be supplied.

Consolidated orders

Palmleaf Books generally dispatches all products in an order together as one shipment.

Products within the same order may have different sourcing and dispatch timeframes. The complete order may be held until all products are ready.

Customers who require an in-stock product sooner should place it in a separate order from preorders, supplier-sourced, special-order and print-on-demand products.

Additional delivery charges may apply if a customer requests separate or earlier dispatch. Any additional charge will be disclosed and must be accepted before the separate shipment is arranged.

Unavailable products affecting free delivery

Free-delivery eligibility is initially determined using the order value at checkout.

If Palmleaf Books cannot supply one or more products and removing them would reduce the remaining order value below the applicable free-delivery threshold, we will contact the customer before dispatch.

We will identify:

  • The unavailable product or products
  • The title and ISBN, where available
  • The applicable refund amount
  • The revised order value
  • The standard delivery charge that would apply to the remaining products

We will not charge or deduct a delivery fee without the customer’s express agreement.

Options when a product is unavailable

The customer may choose to:

Continue with the remaining products

The customer may agree to cancel and refund the unavailable products and have the remaining products dispatched.

If the remaining order no longer qualifies for free delivery, the customer must expressly agree to the disclosed delivery charge.

The agreed delivery charge may be deducted from the refund for the unavailable products. Any remaining refund balance will be returned to the original payment method.

Select a replacement product

Where operationally possible, the customer may select another available product.

Any price difference or change to delivery eligibility must be disclosed and accepted before the order is changed.

Cancel the complete unshipped order

The customer may cancel the complete unshipped order and receive a full refund to the original payment method.

The refund will include the price paid for all products and any delivery charge originally paid.

Accept a Palmleaf Books gift voucher

The customer may voluntarily choose to receive a Palmleaf Books gift voucher instead of a monetary refund.

A gift voucher will only be issued with the customer’s express agreement. Palmleaf Books will not require a customer to accept a gift voucher where a monetary refund is otherwise payable.

A refund gift voucher will have no expiry date and no post-supply fees.

Customer response period

Palmleaf Books will normally allow at least five business days from the first notification for the customer to respond.

We will make at least two reasonable contact attempts using the contact details supplied with the order.

If the customer does not respond within the stated period and the order has not been dispatched, Palmleaf Books may cancel the complete order and provide a full refund to the original payment method.

Without the customer’s express agreement, Palmleaf Books will not:

  • Dispatch the reduced order with a new delivery charge
  • Deduct delivery expenses from the refund
  • Charge the customer’s payment method again
  • Substitute another product
  • Issue a gift voucher instead of a monetary refund

Cancellation by Palmleaf Books

Before dispatch, Palmleaf Books may cancel an entire order if we reasonably believe that we cannot fulfil it as ordered or within a reasonable timeframe.

This may occur when:

  • One or more essential products are unavailable
  • A publisher, distributor or supplier cannot provide the required products
  • A title has gone out of print
  • A preorder has been cancelled by the publisher
  • A genuine pricing, product-listing or inventory error has occurred
  • Payment cannot be authorised or reasonably verified
  • Fraud, unauthorised payment or unlawful activity is reasonably suspected
  • The delivery address cannot be serviced
  • A legal, carrier or supplier restriction prevents fulfilment
  • An event outside our reasonable control makes fulfilment impossible or unreasonable
  • Part of a consolidated order cannot be supplied and completing the remaining order is not reasonably practicable

If Palmleaf Books cancels an order:

  • We will notify the customer using the contact details supplied with the order.
  • We will provide a full refund of all amounts paid for the cancelled order, including any delivery charge.
  • The refund will be returned to the original payment method.
  • No cancellation fee will be charged.
  • We will aim to process the refund within 10 business days.

The customer’s bank or payment provider may require additional processing time.

Where reasonably practicable, we may first offer alternatives such as waiting for updated availability, selecting another product or continuing with available products.

Palmleaf Books is not required to keep an order open when we reasonably believe that it cannot be fulfilled.

Nothing in this section limits any rights or remedies available under Australian Consumer Law.

Customer-requested changes and cancellations

Contact Palmleaf Books immediately if you need to change or cancel an order.

We will try to assist, but a change or cancellation may not be possible after an order has:

  • Entered processing
  • Been submitted to a supplier
  • Entered print-on-demand production
  • Been packed
  • Been dispatched

An order is not cancelled until Palmleaf Books confirms the cancellation.

A customer-requested cancellation may affect free-delivery or promotional eligibility. We will disclose any resulting delivery charge or price adjustment and obtain the customer’s agreement before continuing with the remaining order.

Pricing errors

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that prices are accurate.

If a product is displayed with a genuine and obvious pricing error, Palmleaf Books may contact the customer before dispatch to:

  • Confirm the correct price and request agreement to continue; or
  • Cancel the affected product or order and provide a full refund

We will not charge a higher price without the customer’s express agreement.

Promotions and discount codes

Promotions and discount codes:

  • Are subject to their stated conditions
  • Must be applied before checkout is completed
  • Cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Cannot normally be applied retrospectively
  • May exclude specified products, suppliers or categories
  • May not be combined unless expressly permitted
  • May be withdrawn or corrected when a genuine error has occurred

Promotions do not remove any rights available under Australian Consumer Law.

Customer contact details

Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate contact and delivery information.

Email is our primary method of communicating:

  • Order confirmations
  • Product availability
  • Delays
  • Cancellation requests
  • Dispatch notifications
  • Refund information

Customers should check their inbox and spam or junk folders.

Updating information in a customer account may not update an existing order. Contact Palmleaf Books immediately if an existing order contains incorrect information.

Palmleaf Books is not responsible for delays caused solely by incorrect information supplied by the customer, except where required by law.

Delivery

Delivery is governed by our Shipping and Delivery Policy.

Palmleaf Books may cancel and fully refund an unshipped order when we reasonably believe that it cannot be fulfilled as ordered or within a reasonable timeframe.

Returns and refunds

Returns, refunds and remedies for faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied products are governed by our Return and Refund Policy and Australian Consumer Law.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Palmleaf Books is not responsible for loss caused by:

  • Incorrect information supplied by the customer
  • Customer misuse of a product
  • Unauthorised use of a customer account
  • Events outside our reasonable control
  • Indirect or consequential loss that was not reasonably foreseeable

Nothing in these Terms of Sale excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability under Australian Consumer Law.

Changes to these terms

Palmleaf Books may update these Terms of Sale from time to time.

The terms applying to an order will generally be those published when the order is placed, unless a change is required by law or agreed with the customer.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Sale is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to operate to the extent legally possible.

Governing law

These Terms of Sale are governed by the laws applicable in Australia.

Nothing in this section prevents a customer from exercising rights available under Australian Consumer Law or the applicable laws of an Australian state or territory.
