BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Gastroenterology

It has been more than ten years since the second edition of the BSAVA Manual of Canine and Feline Gastroenterology was published. The knowledge of the digestive and immunological functions of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract has expanded exponentially since then, and this third edition reflects these developments.

This Manual is divided into four main sections:

• Diagnostic procedures and techniques: this section covers clinical pathology, imaging and biopsy
• Diagnostic approaches to problems: the chapters in this section provide the busy practitioner with a practical, diagnostic approach to complaints/problems affecting the GI tract, pancreas and liver
• Patient management: this section looks at the treatments available for GI, pancreatic and liver disease. This includes not only antimicrobials, parasiticides and drugs for symptomatically managing vomiting, diarrhoea and constipation, but also a crucial chapter on fluid and nutritional therapy
• Diseases of specific systems/organs: the chapters in this final section cover specifi conditions of organs of the GI tract, including pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis.
